My Students

Have you ever wondered what is below your feet? My students are challenged to learn about rocks & the rock cycle without any hand held examples!

Our students show great interest in the world around them.

They are in third grade and range in age from 8-10. They come from various socioeconomic backgrounds. We are unique in that the students come from surrounding local communities to make up one school community.

My Project

Due to loss of state funding, our school isn't purchasing items like new textbooks, let alone enrichment resources to really help the students learn. The rock cycle kit will enable the students to use discovery to learn about rocks, volcanoes, tectonic plates, and the entire rock cycle. They will get to ask questions and solve problems to foster their own learning!

Your help will allow the students to get a close up look at rocks and the rock cycle.

Since they cannot go below ground to see the rock cycle, these materials will give them concrete examples of actual rocks in their hands. Then they'll discover what really is below their feet!
