My students need an art materials for an artist's nook, for painting, creating, and exercising their imagination!

My Students

Help little hands paint big dreams! Our classroom needs a creative center so that students will feel like true artists! Our unique classroom serves hospitalized children at an in-patient psychiatric unit.

The NYC children I work with each day are an amazing bunch.

They are artists, lawyers, doctors, and authors. They are also patients at in-patient psychiatric unit, many are foster kids with histories of sexual and physical abuse. I am lucky to see them as organic little kids, dancing, singing, and creating.

My Project

With the recent addition of painting supplies to learn Eric Carle's way of creating illustrations for his notable books (The Very Hungry Caterpillar, The Tiny Seed, The Little Cloud)the children in our classroom need a center to use as an artists studio. With a space of their own, hospitalized children will be able to tell their own stories through art!

This project will support NYC public city school children both in structured lesson plans and during free time.

It is a gift to see these children behaving like children! It is so important for children to feel that their passions have a place in the world. The ability to create a studio and soon a gallery will fulfill this important need.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
