Everything is Possible with a Macbook!

My students need a Macbook laptop for our projector so that I can teach them how to do podcasts, create slideshows, do student films, and be much more creative and inventive.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our current dell laptop froze for the last time during a whole class lesson in our lab/library frustrating all of us. We want to know how to do the creative projects that can be done simply on a mac: podcasts, imovies, slideshows, digital story-telling and other creative projects that boost us.

Our students are eager inner city students with the will to excel.

The majority come from difficult economic situations and many speak English as a second language. Our school is large, struggling, multi-cultural,and very challenging. We are trying to move into the 21st century with newer digital equipment so they can compete with private and more well off students. There is no way we can close the digital divide without your support. The students are ready to be digitally creative using music, digital photography, and audio recorders to create projects that matter. They will use writing, reading and speaking skills to make their projects.

My Project

Before becoming the librarian with a lab, I inherited awful Toshiba laptops that always freeze, get virus' and don't function for whole group lessons using our LCD projector. Oftentimes, my well planned lessons cannot be executed because of this problem. With a macbook, I can teach them how to do podcasts, video production, and digital storytelling, therefore increasing their desire to be in school and wanting to use their writing skills to create interesting projects. Mac computers are much more friendly to children and easier to use to teach from. I don't want to be held back from teaching them how to use their synthesis skills in a digitally creative way because of lousy equipment problems. My students are ready to be digitally competitive in the 21st century. Using their audio, speaking and writing talents, we will change the world.

I can attest that I am currently trained in teaching children how to podcast(think radio show),create multi-media slide shows and videos(think YouTube or TeacherTube) and without a macbook for our LCD projector, I can't teach a whole group.

I have the screen and LCD projector. Your donation will impact 500 students a week! I'm the only person to see all the students every week at our school as I'm the rare full time Teacher Librarian/Media Teacher at my school.
