My Students

Have you ever received a new outfit but your old ratty coat ruins the whole look? Our new Mini Mac's look sad next to our old keyboards. Not to mention that the old keyboards have keys that stick and space bars that don't space.

Our school is a "Middle School" that has 6th,7th and 8th graders.

We have about 1400 students attending our public school in California. Our school library opens at 7:50 in the morning and closes at 4. This gives students the chance to type up a paper either before or after school.

My Project

The libraries' computers are the only computers that the kids can use before and after school. We recently received new Mini Mac's and Dell screens, however we had no funds for new keyboards and mice. It is frustrating for the students to try to type when some of the keys stick or need a hard push to work.

Kids that can afford computers have them at home, so the libraries' computers are used mostly by students that don't have a computer, internet access or a printer at home.

Having equipment that works and doesn't frustrate the students will make them that much more likely to use technology in the future.
