Fun with Physics

My Students

Imagine you are on a roller coaster with the wind in your hair as you slowly creep up to the tallest hill then WHOOSH you fly down the hill with amazing speed. That is physics in motion! I want my students to imagine that as they think about physics.

My students are rural students who have been identified as gifted.

They come to the gifted education classroom for one day each week and work on projects that are different from what they are doing in the regular classrooms. This is their chance to work with other gifted students and be creative. They are students in first through fifth grades. They are a great bunch of children!

My Project

My students love to build things. They will have a great time building roller coasters and marble tracks. They will be able to apply the physics we learn in class to these hands-on activities. These activities will make physics more understandable to the students and they will see connections to the real world.

This project is important because many students don't understand the principles behind physics and these activities will give them better understanding.

Hopefully, some may decide to go into physics or engineering after being exposed to these activities.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
