My Students

"Picture everyone in their underwear" is the typical advice people are given before they present to a large audience. Wouldn't it be great if students could share their stories and ideas without the fear of presenting in front of large groups, but still share their message with a large group?

My students are enlightened 2nd graders.

They have a lot to offer and want the opportunity to present and be heard. They work hard to take their ideas through the writer's workshop and publish stories, but their audience is limited to the peers in the classroom. Next year we'll be engaged in a unit on speech writing, and I want students to benefit from delivering their speeches to the entire school, without having to schedule a time to gather the entire school together. Their words will have the ability and impact to influence others if given the opportunity.

My Project

By having a Flip camera in the classroom, I will be able to record my students whenever the opportunity presents itself. They can share their work with their families (making a home-school connection) and their peers in other classrooms and schools. They can be a model for others how to accomplish something, and more specifically, I would like for them to read and share their stories and speeches in order to influence others. They will also have the opportunity to learn how to use new and different technology (the camera and programs associated with it), and to learn the responsibility of using a recording device.

Your donation will give my students a chance to let their voice be heard.

This contribution will allow student performance to be saved and documented throughout the course of the year and archived for years to come.
