My students need 30 copies of Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes to read as a novel unit, and a teacher's guide.

My Students

Our seventh grade level really need books that expose our students to different cultures. We are also in need of books that accommodate different levels of learners. "Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes" would do this as well as make connections to the social studies curriculum.

My school is a public middle school in an urban setting.

I teach students of various backgrounds, levels, and cultures. My students come from different parts of the community, and come from many different feeder schools. Reading this book is a great way to bring my diverse body of students together to learn about a different time and culture.

My Project

I am hoping that this book can help students relate to other cultures. I hope that they realize that no matter where you are from, people their age can face similar issues or experience hardships. This is an excellent book for making personal connections to one's self and the world.

By reading and experiencing this novel, students will develop a long lasting sympathy for victims of the bombings of World War II.

This book will link language arts to the social studies curriculum. It will also link these students to a different time and culture.
