Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember sitting in a classroom and not feeling comfortable asking a question? Have you even felt like you were the only one who didn't understand the new material or it was moving too fast for your understanding?

My students are motivated high school students who are in an urban Title I (over 90% on free/reduced lunch) school in New York.

They are in grades nine through twelve and are in a college prep program that offers them not only the required classes, but electives and even advanced placement (AP) classes.

My Project

This donation will aid my students exponentially. The clickers will allow me to collect formative assessment data or information minute-to-minute and hour-to-hour on student success. Not only will students be expected to participate in the classroom activities, but they will be offered the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge/mastery of the content, respond to classroom activities, reflect on the day's lesson, and offer feedback to me on the lesson. This will not only aid in the school 'going green' by saving daily paper used from entrance and exit tickets, but will allow each and every student to feel comfortable answering questions. The clickers will allow each student to participate meaningfully whether they speak out loud or not. It will also put some ownership and accountability for responding to questions.

Change in education starts in the classroom.

By giving my students the opportunity to share their learning and feedback with me immediately as well as their daily feedback, I will better be able to meet their daily needs. Their responses will not only inform my instruction, but allow me to group my students so they can learn from each other. Using the clickers as a formative assessment technique in the classroom will increase student achievement and participation in the classroom.
