My Students

The challenges that most of our country faces is health problems created by obesity. We are all affected by poor eating habits, convenience eating, lack of physical motivation and a just plan poor education in nutrition. My students need a fun way to jump start for learning proper healthy habits.

My Kindergarten students live in a rural down east town in Maine.

We face economical challenges due to limited availabilities and opportunities. These children have to grow up fast and with many disadvantages. However, these kiddo's love to learn and love being in school because of the stimulation they receive and the warm meals that are provided. Safety and security are the two things I can provide for them once they enter my classroom so materials that allow a wholistic learning is my main goal.

My Project

I am requesting a wholistic healthy habits kit that provides hours of movement activities to build on fine and gross motor development that many youngsters are lacking these days due to the increase in technology. Also, the kit holds dozens of activities to promote health and nutrition education for students, who need to learn that food is fuel and in a sense medicine to build muscles, bone strength, immunities, and an overall jump to physical/mental wellness. I teach my students where their foods come from and the importance of taking care of our natural resources but need more activities to promote taking care of our bodies.

We are focusing on the importance of taking care of our Earth and protecting our natural resources, but we need to include our own physical/mental well-being as well because if we don't then what's the point.

Education of our Earth and Human Race need to be a vital piece of the puzzle and what better age to start....Kindergarten. Help me create more fun enjoyable activities about healthy choices for our future leaders of tomorrow.
