My Students

My students have a lot working against them. Many come from poor homes where their parents are rarely there to help them with their homework, let alone care much about their education. I am trying to bring a love of learning into their lives so that they succeed and feel good about themselves.

My students want to succeed, they really do, they just don't know how to behave the best in the classroom all the time because they haven't been taught.

They have so much anger inside of them, but that is what they see on the streets in their neighborhood. It is my job to provide them with the tools necessary so that they don't always have to turn to violence. Even still, they are so sweet and generous. They want to please. They are complimentary and are willing to help whenever needed. I truly care about them so much.

My Project

We don't have many resources in the classroom. All items needed will benefit my classroom and the students in some way. The easel will be perfect for poetry centers or math centers. They will be able to use both sides to make number sentences, write story problems, and to create their own poems. The zipper pouches are crucial for my students to carry their supplies from center to center, so they don't have to go back to their seat and loose valuable learning time. The poem book is needed so we can read a poem everyday and so that we will learn a variety of different poems.
