My Students

Students need to get excited about our country and the history of the world. By learning about the Celtic and Roman experience in England by students can learn more about how American developed. Our holidays, laws, forms of government, and language were strongly influenced by the English.

My students are the delight of my life.

To spend time working with the youth of West Virginia is a privilege and an honor for me. Most of my students are of German and Scot-Irish ancestry, but they have not been taught their heritage. Help me in this class to teach my students about the world around us, and how to proud of their heritage. To often in television comedy the West Virginian is the individual with its two front teeth missing, and one leg shorter than the other. Help me to teach my students how West Virginia fits into the world around them, and how they should be proud of their Celtic heritage. Most of my students have no idea where Europe is, or have any idea of the cultural heritage of their ancestors. The only thing most of my students know is poverty and that higher education is for other states. The video will be used to help my honors world history students get ideas for their independent project.

My Project

These videos will be used to help my students understand that many of the Appalachian customs are based on Celtic traditions, and it will help my students to understand how much of the American experience has been influenced by English history and customs. The video on Roman Britain will help my students to understand that Roman civilization influenced English civilization, and that ultimately American civilization has been influenced by English and Roman cultures.

The videos about the Celtic fort will help my students in their independent project.

In the independent project they must build a model of some building of one of the cultures we have studied in class. Another project will do in class is prepare a power point of an influential person in World history, and the videos will be used to help my students to get ideas for their biography project.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
