My Students

My goal is to create an effective Middle School Science program which integrates hands-on inquiry experiences with "Learning Centers" in my sixth grade science classroom. "Doing" Science instead of just "Viewing" Science has sparked an excitement in the kids and I want our explorations to continue.

My students are from a small Georgia school nestled in the foothills of the Appalachians.

We are an ethnically diverse Title I school and our resources are very limited. My students want to come to class because they know they are going to "do" science as opposed to just reading about it. I want to continue to foster their natural curiosity and help them to learn the skills they will need in the future.

My Project

The supplies I have requested will help to reinforce the Georgia Performance Standards for Earth Science through exploration and experimentation. The students are discovering science can be a lot more fun when they are predicting, measuring, comparing and manipulating. The problem I have is a lack of funding. I need more science supplies and materials related to the following areas: Astronomy Geology Hydrology Meteorology Ecology

Please help donate the needed lab supplies so my students can continue to "do" not "view" science.

I would be eternally grateful and you would be making such a difference in the lives of my students. We have such a high drop-out rate in our county and I believe what you and I are doing will inspire these students to develop a life-long love of learning.
