Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember how excited you felt the first time you were able to read a book by yourself? I want my students to have that same experience in their first grade classroom.

My students are eager to read and many are off to a great start!

I want to create a classroom library that has poetry and books that rhyme because the predictable pattern and the rhyme not only is catchy and fun, but it helps beginning readers start reading independently. My students come from low-income homes and do not have access to books in their households. They will never have the opportunity to read "Green Eggs and Ham" or "The Cat in the Hat" unless those books are provided for them in our school. Currently, our library is lacking in books for beginning readers and our school is unable to provide the resources we need due to a cut in funding.

My Project

If you give towards this broad collection of rhyming books our students will have everything they need to move forward and begin to read. I have asked for two copies of each book, so they can share the joy of reading with a classroom reading buddy. My students will love reading because they are books they can experience success with due to the rhyme and the repeating patterns. These books will not just serve this year's students but many students in the years to come. Imagine how many youngsters will have a positive reading and learning experience due to your donation!

It is important that my students have the materials they need to learn at school especially because they do not have access to books at home.

I believe all children should be surrounded by amazing books that spark their imagination and inspire them. Without your help my students will not have what they need. Your donation will make a big difference by giving them the resources our school is unable to provide.
