Shakespeare is Fun!

My students need a classroom set of Shakespeare's words for our extensive studies of Shakespeare's sonnets and plays.

My Students

"I can't read this; the words are too difficult!" is the most common complaint I receive when my students see the Bards name above their reading for the day.

I have a very diverse group of students.

I have freshman who read at a 12th grade level and students who read at a 4th grade level. No matter their reading level, I have to teach them Shakespeare's plays. They are all very talented and willing to learn if I can teach the material in a way they can understand it.

My Project

I purchased one copy of Shakespeare's words this year while teaching Romeo and Juliet, and the students were fighting over it daily. With a set of 15 in my classroom, the students will always be able to use this resource as often as they need. We also do many assignments and projects that involve students using Shakespeare's words in their writing. This would open up an opportunity for students to have more of these assignments and improve their understanding of Shakespeare's vocabulary.

Shakespeare writes about many obstacles students are facing or will face in their lifetime.

If the fear of Shakespeare's language is removed, students will be able to appreciate the themes and lessons they can learn from his writing.
