My Students

Help me teach special needs students about the technology that surrounds them.

My students are beginning to enjoy the technology that is all around them.

In order to support their curiosity they need to use it daily. Do you remember being in school and having a new gadget? Were you one of the first to get to touch it and use it? The students that populate my classroom are usually the ones that are pushed to the back of other classrooms by more dominant students. They get very little chance to use the new gadgets in their regular classrooms. They lack the self confidence to pick up a new piece of equipment and operate it fluently. I would like to change that for them.

My Project

I am requesting a digital camera that will take still shots as well as short videos that can be embedded into an online newsletter. By choosing one camera that does both it will be less equipment to have to keep up with and learn how to operate and maneuver. This will provide me the opportunity to teach the students how to take digital pictures as well as short videos. Once they master these skills I would like to collaborate with the art teacher in my building and work on some digital artwork projects. This equipment could be used for that as well.

My project is important because it will give my students the confidence they need to be successful with the world of technology around them.

They will be able to take pictures and videos that are of high enough quality that they could be used on the website newsletter and the school news channel.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
