This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Kinder Cubs to the Rescue! My kinders are such curious little creatures, they love to discover new things and share what they learn with everybody. Just think of all the stories they'll have to share with others after a day filled with interactive puppet play.

My little guys and gals come from a high poverty neighborhood, where most have not had any prior experience with a structured environment, such as pre-school.

Our community serves students from a variety of family structures. Many of my students come from single family, multiple family, migrant family, and military family homes. Aside from teaching these children basic Kindergarten concepts I also have the task of teaching them to love school and value education no matter what school they may end up at.

My Project

My son is an active Army soldier and will deploy on mission number #3 this summer. It is my goal to have my students, many whose own parents have or are currently serving in the armed forces, write my son letters of inspiration and gratitude. I hope to inspire my students to write creatively by presenting puppet shows to them, and by allowing them to present puppet shows to each other. Just think how cute each kinder will be as they excitedly present their own puppet show to the class.

With your help my Kinder Cubs will have special memories to share, in their writing, with our US Army Soldiers.

Kindergarten, is not what it use to be. The environment is very structured and standards driven. This puppet theater would make a world of difference in their ability to think and write creatively. Thank you for taking the time to consider our project...Kinder Cubs United We Stand!
