My Students

First graders love learning and love movement! The ABC phonics carpet and learning squares will enable my children to learn important reading skill basics in fun and imaginative ways.

My children are 17 excited and creative students.

They love exploring new topics and being able to have hands-on learning experiences. Our school is set in a very rural setting that is economically depressed due to lose of manufacturing industries and related jobs. Our school is small and the faculty, staff and students are close knit. We may be small, but we are a great place to work and learn!

My Project

Phonemic awareness is one of the most important skills that will help to create fluent,life long readers. The ABC Phonics rug and squares will enables my students to learn many of these early learning concepts in a fun and hands-on manner. We will be able to play a wide variety of games that will enhance their learning of the alphabet, letter sounds, spelling and word families.

Each year I have tried to personally purchase items for my classroom to make learning more fun for my students.

I do this because the school that I work for is unable to make these purchases themselves. Due to budget cuts and decreases in teacher's salaries, I will not be able to afford to do this for my class this coming year. It is my hope that caring and generous donors will help to afford my students with these unique learning tools.
