Inspiring & Investigating Individualism

My Students: "There are bodies everywhere...The terror hits him...The water is full of sharks." Those words are of a memory of a survivor of the USS Indianapolis and can be seen, hopefully, in the minds of my students. My students need books that will grip their minds and be memorable for a lifetime.

My students are advanced freshmen that hopefully already have an intrinsic motivation to learn. These students need to be inspired to search for their individualism too. They go to an inner city school where there are problems in the hall and sometimes their own classroom that deter from learning. These students need every chance they can get to shine and show what they are worth.

My Project: Teenagers are naturally curious about their world and about their lives. Students who are advanced are even more inquisitive about everything they can get their hands on and explore. I think this book will really excite some students and make them curious about finding out more about this subject and other facts they have been taught. Students will learn that sometimes it is okay to go above and beyond to reverse a wrong.

You could inspire many future careers, solved mysteries, and tales by funding this project. This book might inspire the next reversal of a court martial or another wrong. The possibilities are endless what you might inspire by funding this proposal. hide»

My students need a nonfiction book that will inspire them to become the individuals that will someday rule the world. details»

Dear Ross, Kroger and Anonymous Donor,

Thank you so much for funding this project and allowing my students to get these books to read. I think my advanced freshmen will love the ingenuity of the boy in this story.

The boy in this story was about the same age of my students when he started his investigation. These kids love to question things just like Hunter Scott. Not only will the book teach them more about the incident involving the U.S.S, Indianapolis, but more about the military and naval procedures. I am planning on working with my colleagues to develop cross curriculum projects that will encourage students to expand their horizons.

My school is in the middle of a city and has many financial problems. New books are not high on the list of things the school can afford to buy. The funding you have provided will give these students the opportunity to read a new book. Students have a great look on their faces when you hand them a new book; they appreciate new books more than you can know.

Thank you for your generosity. You have inspired the future of tomorrow.

With gratitude,
Mrs. B.
