My Students

“Many guys I knew sold drugs because they felt they had no choice,” wrote Dr. George Jenkins in his book. Many of my students feel the same. Dr. Jenkins worked and got out of his situation. We are trying to show students as many positive examples as we can to inspire them for the future.

My students attend an inner city school.

We have problems with behavior, drugs, and funding. The students I am writing this proposal for are advanced students who excel academically in English. These are great kids that have to fight sometimes just to get into class, but at least these kids will do whatever they can to get into class. They need inspiration wherever we can give it to them.

My Project

The Pact is a book about students who I could have. These three men started off in the same environment as my students. They overcame their circumstances and stuck together and achieve their dreams. This book will show my students how determination, friendship, and fortitude can help them accomplish anything they dream. Words have power. You will inspire and help students learn about nonfiction using a nontraditional text.

Many of our students are used to getting books that have been used for decades. The light in a student’s eyes when you hand them a new book is awe-inspiring. You will give students opportunities to experience a new and different book that could change their view of their future.
