If you entered my classroom on any given morning during Reader's Workshop, you would find 27 students spread across the classroom engaged in a variety of literacy activities. Students are focused, on-task and LOVE each minute of learning. I teach an ambitious, eager group of 2nd grade learners at a high-poverty Colorado public school. My students come to school each day ready to learn and grow! Although I have an incredibly dedicated group of young learners, my class is constantly growing in ability and size! I am expected to have up to 35 students next year. We need some new literacy materials so I can differentiate work stations to reach all learners Help us master reading and writing sight-words! My Project: In 2nd grade, mastering sight-words is really important! Sight-words are high frequency words that commonly appear in literature and in students' writing. We need a variety of materials for a word work station. At this literacy station, students would work with a partner to practice reading and writing sight-words in a variety of ways- all of which would be hands-on, kinesthetic, and engaging! These materials will help reach my students of diverse needs and learning styles.
We are requesting tactile sight-word cards, stamps, dough, word wands, highlighting tape, paper, and thin-line markers. These materials will offer my worker bees a variety of choices to practice reading and writing sight-words. These materials will make mastery of sight-words easy and fun for my 2nd graders! Your generosity can make a big impact on the literacy growth of my busy bees! You will help them improve both reading and writing skills with this extra practice with sight-words. On behalf of my ambitious learners, thank you for considering our proposal! hide» My students need thin-line markers, paper, tactile cards, stamps, ink pads, highlighting tape, and word wands. details»
