My Students

Do you remember having a story read to you? I have a wonderful class of 3rd graders. Many of my students come from lower income families. In many cases, they do not have the books or opportunity to have someone read to them.

My ELL students typically come from families that know very little English and therefore, are unable to read to their child in English.

I believe it is important that children are given as many opportunities as possible to hear stories read to them.

My Project

Listening to stories helps develop the language, vocabulary, voice, expression, visualization and many other things needed to become good readers. I need a listening center! The listening center could be set up as a center to use during guided reading. A listening center would give my students the ability to hear stories read, while I'm teaching guided reading in small group.

Your donations will make it possible for my students to hear many stories read to them with voice and expression and hopefully instill a love of reading.

A donation today will not only be an investment for my current class, but for the many readers that will pass through my doors in the future.
