Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day.” I am a self-contained, multiple-subject, fifth grade teacher at a designated low-income elementary school. The student population is minority-based with a high concentration of English Language Learners.

My students are in need of current technology that can be of assistance to their academic development and advancement.

I feel that by using current technological trends as a means to enhance conceptualization of academic principles my students will become more interested and engaged in the learning process. Many of my students are underprivileged and come from single parent, foster, migrant, and military families. They deserve advanced hands on learning opportunities, and rely on them more than students who receive regular educational support at home.

My Project

The Power Sync Case will allow my students to have a functioning iPod touch when needed. Currently each student has to rotate their device on the four chargers in the classroom, which means at times there are students whose iPods are not powered and therefore not usable. My students rely heavily on these devices as dictionaries, research tools, math flash cards, graphing calculators, atlases, and periodic tables. These are just a few of the apps that my students use on a daily basis to assist them with their assignments. The Power Sync case would allow me to place all of our iPods in a secure location overnight and retrieve them the next day fully charged and ready for student use. This case would also allow us to take our iPods into the field as we study our local pond for our Disney Planet Challenge project. When using iPods as a notetaking and research tool students use less paper which assists with conservation and helps teach the importance of protecting our environment.

With your assistance my students would no longer have to worry about having low batteries and devices that need to be charged.

This one tool would make learning with technology reliable and dependable. Thank you for considering this project, your donations are more than just a contribution, they are a gift of knowledge that will be unwrapped daily.
