My students need 31 entertaining book and series to help get them interested in reading and to help them continue to read.

My Students

Have you ever been so into a book that you couldn't put it down? And when you did, you just had to pick up the sequel? It's hard for my kids to find books they are into. Unfortunately, when they do, they finish it quickly and are left right back where they started...with nothing to read.

My students attend a small middle school.

Life is crazy as we are one of three schools in the building. They are lucky as our school is the top floor of the building, allowing them to be tucked away from the craziness of the world below them. They are students who don't get everything every student should. Our teachers do the best they can, but what my school is lacking are resources that help to inspire kids to continue learning.

My Project

My students are students in today's world. They have TVs to watch and computers to surf on. They have phones to text on and game systems to play. However, they haven't been allowed to get their imaginations in flight. That's what I'm hoping these books will do. Included in my request are popular teen series to interest both boys and girls. Students reading them will be given a chance to see fantasy worlds and mysterious places. They will get a dose of magical history and, yes, a little reality. The range of these books as well as the audience they are suited for should allow each and every one of my current and future students to find something to suit their fancy.

Students who find not just one book they enjoy but a plethora of them will begin a life-long love affair with literature.

Reading can either be a hum-drum daily task for students or it can be a land of wonders. I want to inspire my students and their imaginations, and these books can help do that.
