My Students: Planting knowledge into the minds of students is very important. In my classroom, planting is a year long unit as it is tied into so many other themes! Studying planting allows students to make the connection between sequencing, life cycles, habitats, and seasons.

My school is a high poverty school. The majority of my students don't have any of the 'extras' in life. Planting will enable my students to be able to realize that mighty trees can come from a tiny seed or that beautiful flowers come from seeds that are not so pretty. My students are my seeds. With hands on projects, my students are those seeds that when watered and nurtured, will grow into mighty and beautiful things.

My Project: Planting thoughts and ideas in a student is what I want to accomplish as a teacher. The items that are requested will allow the students to sequence a plant, measure the growth (both roots and tops), compare plant growth and life cycles of living animals, and read about why plants are important for every living thing.

This project will be used by everyone in my grade level, including a 4th grade class that buddies up with mine. This project will be used by approximately 100 students a year. I want to thank you for considering my proposal. Your help will be greatly appreciated. hide»

My students need 10 plant centers and growing materials, including an Activity Tub, a Plants Kindergarten Learning Library and small greenhouses. details»
