My Students

Save the books! If a paper back book has a cover, it will last years. However, if it doesn't, it will fall victim to tearing, bunny ears, etc. My goal is to save as many books as possible for future readers.

I'm a writing teacher at a low-income charter school in North Carolina.

On average, my students started this year several grade levels behind in writing. I had a handful of students who couldn't even write a complete sentence when they walked into my room. Six months have passed, and we have come a long way since then. However, there's still much to learn in order to prepare them to read and write at a high school level.

My Project

In recent years, many books have been donated to my class. However, those books are beginning to fall apart because I don't have plastic book-covers. A Book-cover is hard-plastic adhesive tape that can be put on books to prolong their life. Book covers prevent bunny ears, tearing, and normal wear and tear. If I want the books that have been donated to my class to last, I need these book covers.

Please donate to this project to save the lives of dying books.

Your donation will exponentially extend the life of books so they can be used in classrooms for years to come. Without book-covers, a class set of paper-backs may last 2 years, if they're lucky. On the other hand, I've seen class sets of paper books last a decade with book-covers.
