My Students

As a volunteer EMT I understand the importance of learning proper CPR techniques. With cardiac-related diseases increasing each year the chances of one of my students having to perform CPR on a person grows. Teaching my students these vital skills early could save someones life down the road.

My students all have an interest in learning about the medical field.

These are 9th grade students from varying socio-economic backgrounds. The students work very hard and really enjoy learning the basics of medical field. Many of them volunteer at local hospitals and nursing homes to help out as much as they can.

My Project

I am requesting CPR manikins and face shields for the classroom. For the last few years I have been trying to verbally provide the students with a CPR overview, but have been having a hard time. These manikins will provide the students with a hands-on experience so they can actually feel and do proper CPR.

As a volunteer EMT, all to often do I arrive at a call to see a family who does not know how to perform CPR on their loved one.

Each student who takes my class will now understand the basics of CPR. A firm understanding now will allow them to be more likely to perform this vital life saving skill should the situation arise. Every second counts when it comes to saving a life. The quicker CPR is started, the better the odds of survival.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
