My Students

Kindergarten has come a long way over the past decade. Kindergarten students are now learning to read and write BEFORE entering first grade! Teaching students about letters and letter sounds is fundamental in teaching children to read!

I teach full day Kindergarten in Wisconsin.

My students are an eager and enthusiastic group of five and six year old cuties who love to learn. They love using "magic writing boards" (dry erase boards) but we need boards that have lines on them to help us learn correct letter formation. I have previously tried making the boards but have not been able to create lines that stay put after cleaning. Writing instruction is a fundamental part of creating super readers!

My Project

These resources will give my students reusable materials to help learn correct letter formation, practice handwriting, and write creative stories. These materials are erasable and will reduce our use of paper, creating less waste. This will help our classroom become a "Greener" environment which sets a good example for the children. We will use these materials every week for handwriting instruction, rather than using worksheets or workbooks.

This project will not only help my students become better writers but will also help them become better readers.

Students learn how to become better readers by being given a multitude of opportunities to write throughout the school week.
