Journalism Class in Need of a Camera for Newspaper

My students need a new SLR camera to take better quality photos for the school newspaper.

My Students

The journalism class at our rural, high poverty high school is faced with many challenges because they must raise their own money for the essential tools of journalism. The camera that the students have now is not good quality and they often miss the perfect shot because the camera is so slow.

The students in our journalism class are hard workers and very meticulous students.

Since the equipment they are currently using is a 3.7 mega pixel digital camera, it makes the job a lot harder. The students are constantly running around the school trying to get their tasks accomplished. This semester there were only two students running the whole newspaper. The two students took pictures, wrote articles, and created the whole newspaper. The two students in journalism were dedicated to making sure the paper came out great.

My Project

We need is a new Canon camera. The cameras that the class has are absolutely horrible. Just because it is a school newspaper, it doesn’t mean that there is not a need for a nice camera. Strong action pictures are what make a newspaper look better. Even though the journalism class did not have a great camera the paper came out looking nice. Imagine if the students had a camera that could take high quality pictures? If the journalism class were to receive the donation of a camera the paper could have the potential to look ten times better.

Getting a new camera for the journalism class would be very much appreciated.

Who knows if the cameras that we currently use will continue to work? Any picture out of those old, outdated cameras might just be the last. Once the one camera dies the journalism class will be left with nothing to take pictures with. Getting a nice, new camera that takes great pictures is a goal that the journalism class has had for awhile. We would truly appreciate it if you could help us.
