This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The Memories of Kindergarten. Making sure my kindergarten students look back fondly at their first year of school.

I teach kindergarten at a public school in a low-income part of the city.

My students want to learn but we don't have enough resources or the money to buy them. They love to learn and they love to take pictures, and see themselves in the pictures. We use the pictures to create lasting memories and to let the parents see what they've learned.

My Project

My students love being in pictures and taking pictures of things. I want my students to be able to learn how to use a digital camera, create multimedia projects on the computer, and be able to actually see changes in any science projects we would do. We have used pictures to help create movies for our daily songs so the students have visual and audio learning.

This year, we explored earthworms, the Science Museum and plants.

My students loved every minute of it and they especially liked taking pictures of it. We need a classroom camera that I can let them learn to use. I am trying to create independent learners and letting them use the camera for science experiments or to find real life examples of our lessons will do so much to help.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
