I want to provide my kids with as many fitness experiences they can get. I work in an inner city school with students from low income families. These children do not have many exciting opportunities in school and at home. I want to provide my students with an exciting educational, innovative experience to promote student learning and increase their fitness levels. Rock climbing is one of the few activities in physical education where the students are challenging themselves without trying to beat someone or work with someone else. It is the student versus the wall, and many of my students would benefit from the independent non-competitiveness of this activity. Rock climbing associated with decision making, self challenge and exercise. As a physical educator, teaching and watching these students go through this type of activity would be fascinating. My Project: My students need a rock climbing wall, wall mats and a removable basketball goal. I want my Physical Education program to offer education opportunities that include the components of a quality program. Quality physical education programs positively impact students’ physical, social, and mental health. It is the unique role of quality physical education programs to provide opportunities for children to understand the importance of physical activity and to acquire skills to combat a sedentary lifestyle. With your help, the rock climbing wall would benefit my students by helping them: * Recognize and accept some personal strengths and abilities. * Encourage a Encourage and help others. * Accept and challenge some of their fears * List personal qualities which contributed to their successes, as well as the successes of others * Experience individual and group trust * Discuss some of their emotions. * Apply their climbing wall experiences to their everyday lives. hide» My students need 5 rock climbing walls, wall mats and 3 removable basketball goals with mounting brackets. details»
