Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Have you ever searched for a great book to read? My students have found some wonderful books in our library and want to create video booktalks to recommend titles to other students. Video booktalks are just like movie trailers and students want to develop skills in creating videos.

There are 1500+ students at our high school.

Just like most teens, they love reading, Internet, social media and video. Many of our students do not have access to Internet or the tools to create video at home. We'd like to be able to do that at school but we need more equipment.

My Project

With flip camcorders, our students will be able to create original video works and share these with other students. We'll read books and students will create video booktalks, just like a movie trailer, to recommend great books to other students. Students will work in groups to learn teamwork and collaboration and create videos just like those on You Tube! They will also encourage reading and showcase their experiences with reading. The video booktalks will be posted online so students will be creating video for a global audience.

With 1500+ students, we need all the flip camcorders we can get so many students have access to this project. We want to encourage 21st century skills for our students and connect to real life. Reading is important for all students, this project encourages and celebrates the great reading our students engage in every day!
