My Students

All year long, my students have had zero use of a computer for classroom research because our classroom does not have any computers. Our school does not have a functioning computer lab. So, the resources for Internet research and typing are limited the infrequent times I bring my laptop to school.

Our corner of Michigan is severely impacted by the changing nature of our economy moving from industrial to a more technological savvy nation.

We are in great need to make our children our national treasure and the apple of each Americans eye. My Patriots are an amazing group of cultural diversity and authentic learners. Our school is in a neighborhood in need of tender loving care, it has 90% free breakfast and lunch programs. From the beginning of the school year, we have been focused on developing our core democratic values specifically, patriotism. It is this theme that we connect our learning to community with its rewards and requirements. Now, my third grade Patriots are embracing the American dream in the 21 century, but we are without the computer support to access the multi-media resources that bring American History to life and bring the world to this part of Michigan via Internet accessibility. My Project

Yes, these Patriots are the apples of my eye and yours. Our school of over five hundred does not have a working computer lab and limited printer access. In order to reach out to the vast resources of the Internet we need an Apple Laptop computer. This type of computer is very intuitive and loaded with software that is Patriot kid friendly!!! My class is currently working on projects about the American revolution and the people that came to this new nation. So, my students have to rely on my personal Apple computer and printer to type and access the Internet. Having an Apple Laptop computer will also, be a great asset in that students can work together in a group easier in our classroom where they can create podcasts, upload digital photos and create multi-media projects in our classroom without a long wait or the virus issues with other computers. I know that you will be able to ignite the fire of liberty using technology for my little Patriots!!

Having this Apple Laptop computer will escalate these little apples to the brilliance of independent thinking. Yes, you are exposing them to the Internet to research there world and dreams.
