Our school is largely military as we are surrounded by several large bases. We have a very culturally diverse population; with a variety of family situations. Their socio-economic backgrounds are low. However, whatever the obstacles the children are facing they make up for with determination, effort, and a strong desire to learn. My Project: In the Art room I want the children to construct sets and use modeling clay creating their own animated films. The students will make films that bring History to life as well as their own stories.
I will use the digital camera, tripod, and studio light for not just one project/ grade level but at every grade level. The students will build skills over time. Our budget constraints over the past few years have eliminated our computer skills teacher and I will use the resources to fill some of that void as well.
We are to be a STEM school (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) next year. Every grade level will be participating with unique hands-on activities. I want each grade to document the activity starting with Kindergarten slide shows to stop motion animation of composting machines construction and use. We will also use the stop motion animation to watch seedlings become flowers. In doing so we combine technology, Science, Engineering and Math as well as Art as we create our own short films. We will use the memory sticks to save our work. The students will experience Art with a 21st century twist by using technology hands-on, many for the first time. For the majority of these kids this will be their only opportunity to use technology hands-on. hide» My students need a digital camera, a tripod, a studio light and memory sticks. details»
