My Students

Lights! Camera! Action! These words inspire thoughts of life in motion. Multimedia resources will help our ELL students make connections to their learning more readily and thoroughly.

My delightful ELL students make up about 10% of our K-5, 90% military family, school population.

They come to us from places all over the world like the Philippines, Puerto Rico, the Pacific Islands, Japan, and Germany. One or both parents are among the 9,500+ soldiers deployed from our base. A dozen languages this year are spoken among our our 35 families. These bright, inquisitive, and eager learners are a pleasure to teach. They are well-mannered, respectful and thoughtful learners. A number of our students have qualified for art recognition within our district this year. Our school promotes the identification and facilitation of growth needs at all levels. Four of our ELLs are qualified as Gifted and Talented this year and are receiving challenging and targeted instruction at their level.

My Project

Lights! Camera! Action! These words inspire thoughts of life in motion. Multimedia resources will help our ELL students make connections to their learning more readily and thoroughly. This project is a request for an LCD projector and pull-down screen. At present we all have to crowd around my small computer monitor!

There are two important reasons I am making this request.

1. Learning a second language is a challenge that is quickly facilitated by the use of realia like real life objects, visuals, and synchronized video/audio accessible through LCD projection technology such as this. 2. Minority students like ELLs should have equal access to advancing technology like this, but our school budget has been unable to bear the cost for the past two years.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
