This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My class is more than ready to read, but we need help building our classroom library. Our school library was recently water damaged from a leak and in the process of moving to a classroom instead of the bungalow where it is currently located.

These second graders are eager to read whatever they can get their hands on.

There is an incredible relationship within my class that I would like to foster. This includes students recommending books to one another and asking each other questions about what they are reading. I would love the opportunity to provide small group sets and extend guide reading activities with my class. I know many of them do not have access to a wide selection of books at home. So I would like to provide as many opportunities within the classroom.

My Project

My requested books include non-fiction reading about book wagons, dolphins, and Barack Obama. I have also chosen books within the second and third levels of the "I can read" series which has been a high interest among students. I have selected over a dozen titles with five copies each, keeping in mind I would like students to be able to read in small groups. I currently have only a couple class sets of books and the rest of my books I only have individual copies.

I would love for your donation to be the checkered flag in our race toward reading.

I have created an excitement around reading that needs your help to continue our momentum and speed toward third grade.
