My students need a digital camera to capture their outstanding personalities, amazing growth, creative projects, and the community activities that make them so awesome, and a printer!

My Students

Do you have childhood albums? If you're like me the answer is yes. I have an amazing group of students. I would like to give them a personal photo journal that highlights their growth and development. I will be their teacher next year, so we could document both 1st and 2nd grade!

I have a diverse group of intelligent and creative students that have worked hard this year to create a supportive and successful classroom community.

Both them and their families come from different places around the world. Collectively they speak five different languages and all bring rich cultural experience into our classroom. Unfortunately our school has very little funding for creative projects that would enhance my students life. I have the opportunity to loop with this group of students (for non-teachers looping means that I will be their teacher for both 1st and 2nd grade). I feel like a photo journal would expose the many different personalities and abilities that each student brings to the class. It could lead to reading, writing, math, and art projects. I would also be able to video some of their experiences and create a DVD for each student that captures their year.

My Project

As a teacher I have a difficult time remembering my school related experiences. I wish I could remember what it was like to be in the 1st and 2nd grade. A photo journal would give my students the opportunity to remember their schooling experiences. They would have video and images of their academic and personal growth that starts in the 1st grade and continues through the 2nd grade. As a class we could document our progress and capture our class working with each other and others within the school community. Their has been so many moments when I wished I had a camera to show my student's families how smart and amazing they are in class. I would love to give my students a personal photo journal that captured their class community in action.

A photo journal would be such a special gift to give my students and their families.

It would be a way to show them how creative, intelligent, and caring they are. I would love to give them something that we created together as a class community that they could keep and remember forever. Hopefully the photo journal would reflect the many different ways in which they bring joy to my life. They are an amazing group of students who deserve the opportunity to see that through photos and video.
