This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Help me fight obesity I am a physical education teacher at a Pennsylvania public K-8 school. The school is located in a low economic neighborhood with 95% low income and about 95% of students receive free or reduced lunch. This is a Title one school.

This public school was built in 2007 in Pennsylvania to ease overcrowding at another neighborhood school.

The school was supposed to open up with 800 to 850 students. The school opened in September 2007 with 1000 students short of teachers and materials. It opened up with just one class in the gym, now in April 2010 there are two. That means we need more equipment and more activities to keep 66 students moving and active."

My Project

The resource I am asking for is 1 NEA multimedia projector. This projector will have many uses in the gym. It will allow me to have my students watch and participate in a variety aerobic kids fitness videos. It will also be used it with our Wii system during our fitness circuit. I will also use it for my annual Jump Rope For Heart Assembly as well as any other assembles we have in the gym. This projector will bring technology into the Physical Education program. The projector will let me teach better by allowing my students to see and learn about health and fitness websites that I will be able to discuss current up-to-date information with them.

The American Heart Association states that obesity is a major health risk factor linked to increased cardiovascular disease, certain types of cancer, type II diabetes, and early death.

The multimedia projector will help me fight obesity by allowing me to us technology in Physical Education class. There are many uses for this projector in the gym such as teaching fitness, health, as well as math with bowling to many more uses. Thank you for you support.
