Ecourage Focus And Concentration With Stability Balls!

How long can you sit in a plastic school chair before becoming uncomfortable? Many students become uncomfortable by merely thinking about having to sit down in a school chair! Rather than force students to be uncomfortable, why not help them to focus and channel their energy in a positive way?

A variety of school age students have difficulties staying focused.

Whether they have learning disabilities, are a kinesthetic learner, or simply enjoy the ability to move. The students in my class are average sixth grade students who enjoy being social and working hard. Often times the students struggle staying focused due to the fact that they are uncomfortable sitting in a plastic school chair.

My Project

I currently have one stability ball in use in my classroom. I have seen all of my students become excited when they have an opportunity to sit on the ball. The stability ball has not become a distraction for my students, rather I have seen improvements in the students' retention of instructional material and well as the amount of time they are engaged in an activity. Multiple studies done in a variety of schools across the country have proven the use of stability balls increase student focus and encourage cognitive development. The students in my class can greatly benefit from the option of using a stability ball.

Please help to provide stability balls in my classroom.
