My Students

When you rest in quietness and your image of yourself fades, and your image of the world fades, and your ideas of others fade, what's left? A brightness, a radiant emptiness that is simply what you are.

I have the best job in the entire world!

I am fortunate enough to work at a Blue Ribbon school with dedicated teachers who love their students. I am currently developmental preschool teacher in a high needs school. All of my students have been diagnosed with developmental delays that put them at-risk for school failure. With early intervention, it is the hope of the developmental preschool program that all of our students will out grow their developmental delays; however, some will later be diagnosed with autism, a learning disability, or a cognitive impairment. I also have students with physical disabilities, emotional disabilities, and vision and hearing impairments. Teaching young children with developmental delays is near and dear to my heart! I absolutely love my job!

My Project

I want to create a quiet space kids can call their own! This cozy nook can serve many purposes: 1.) A quiet place of reflection for a student with autism who needs time to himself/herself. 2.) A place for students to gather and look at books. 3.) A place for students to play This super-inviting corner consists of 4 bright, comfy pieces that attach together securely—all made of incredibly dense foam and covered with easy-clean vinyl that resists moisture and stands up to years of use. It is also accompanied by a nice canopy!

With statewide budget cuts severely impacting education in Indiana, I am lucky to have a job.

Requesting an item such as this may appear to be a luxury, but for a special needs Pre-K class, it is a necessity. Students with autism and emotional disorders need quiet places to reflect and gather their thoughts. Your contribution will provide a safe haven, a nice inviting place for students to go and be by themselves.
