A Book For Every Child Part IV

My students need 10 sets of "Favorite Author" books for every sixth grade student on our campus that include authors such as S.E. Hinton, Gary Paulsen, Jerry Spinelli, Cynthia Voigt, and much more.

My Students

I am a teacher in a low income school district in Texas. We do not have much money to spend on extras in our classes at my school. Many of our students come from low income families and because of the economy this year, may not have a lot for the holidays.

My principal and I would really like to share the holiday spirit with every one of our students in our school, but at the same time, stress how important it is to read.

We have over 550 students in grades three through six on our campus that love to read.

My Project

We would love to purchase a book for each student in our school for the holidays. Many of these kids have never owned a book and this would be a great opportunity to change that. Can you imagine your life without books? In order to do this, I am splitting this proposal up into four sections, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth grade sections. This proposal is for our sixth grade students. We would love a book for each student on our campus. We want to give these students a chance to actually own a book and have it in their house. Knowing how much students love to read on our campus, lets us know that students would be inspired with these books and become better readers.

What is more powerful than reading?

I can not think of anything. Reading helps students in all aspects of their lives. Please help us show students how important a book can be. Thank you for your time.
