My students need 30 copies of "Tex", a novel that my students love.

My Students

My students struggle with reading and each year it is a challenge to get them to want to engage in a text. Tex is a novel that not only engages my students, but also encourages them to seek other high interest novels to continue to improve their reading skills.

My students are hard working and want to do well in school, but each year I have students who are reading below, and sometimes far below, grade level.

I am always looking for literature that will not show them the joys of reading while not causing them frustration.

My Project

Our current copies of Tex are falling apart and are taped together. Having new copies would be wonderful as I use this novel each year to motivate readers! My students are often motivated to seek other young adult authors and begin reading short, high interest novels on their own once they see what is out there.

My project is important because many students tell me that Tex is the only book they had read up to the 9th grade year that they enjoyed.

For some, it is the first novel they have ever finished, so I am positive it has an impact on my students.
