My Students

We need Weekly Reader magazine to give our children new and interesting stories and facts to explore for reading!

Our school is situated in a city that serves the second largest military base in the country.

A great deal of these children have moved every few years and have been without a mother or father for months to a year all of their lives due to deployment. We like to create an escape for all children, whether it be because of the military or just because of a difficult home life.

My Project

The resources that I am requesting will provide the students with a weekly magazine of their own to read about the world around them. It is nice to be able to take them places through reading and watch them enjoy learning about different places and animals in the world. I am also requesting a test-taking strategies CD-ROM for use with my SMARTBoard. Every child has to take a state test, and this game provides broken down, interactive lessons on how to tackle reading passages for standardized tests.

I love watching children learn about real life events.

These magazines provide that outlet we need to teach children about different things and ideas that happen throughout our world.
