How a GPS Can Help Us Learn About Water Quality!

My students need four GPS systems to help them study, map and evaluate water quality in our local streams.

Our students struggle with their impact on our local environment and in what ways they can make a difference to be a part of the solution.

Our students are attending a school that prides itself on giving students the opportunities to become the best they can.

We always say that the best people in the world walk the hallways of our school and it is very true. We are a moderately large school that has seen a growing population in the last few years.

My Project

Our students will be able to use these GPS systems with the water quality testing materials we already have and go out into the surrounding streams to collect data and log the exact location into the GPS systems. The students will be collecting and monitoring water quality data in a number of local streams. They will learn what impacts they make to change the water quality and what they can do to be a positive influence on their community.

I believe that this project is important because it gives students a sense of the impacts they can make on their local ecosystems.

In addition, it will provide valuable field experience.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
