My Students

Picture This! My students will learn how to identify and use literary elements using picture books. Students will be able to listen and read a story to identify setting, characters, conflict, plot, foreshadowing, similes, metaphors and other types of literary elements.

My school is located in a rural area where many of the students are on free and reduced lunches.

I teach 6th and 7th grade reading at a small middle school. My students are eager to learn, especially if they are inspired by the materials they are using in the classroom.

My Project

Using picture books in my classroom will help my students learn story elements and poetic devices. Students will become interested in learning because of the opportunity to hear quality literature. Students of all ages enjoy picture books. Putting these books in my classroom will help students have a greater understanding of the objectives they need to learn.

Because of your donation, many students will have a greater understanding of many skills and concepts.

My goal is not only to teach students reading skills and strategies needed, but to help build life-long readers. Getting quality books in my kids hands is essential for me to meet that goal.
