My Students

What, a science class without animals? In some schools this is true. However I offer students contact with some animals that they may not ever get to touch. Alice is our 3 year old Ball python and she needs a new home. We would move her to this 30 gallon aquarium then use the other for fish.

We are located in a suburban southwest Missouri district where limited outdoor experiences and contact with nature are being sought after.

Students need to be able to understand, feel and touch animals. Alice provides opportunities for students to become more inquisitive as well as share in her care.

My Project

Students hold and feed Alice. She provides a lot of enjoyment and assists students in overcoming common fears. Students are allowed to watch her feed and in turn learn about the cycle of life. Each day students beg to hold her and she brings a lot of fun to our science classroom.

Studies show that when students have natural experiences their sense of wonder increases which in turn causes them to quest for more experiences enhancing brain development.

An aquarium for Alice would greatly assist us with her proper care and promote learning.
