My Students

It is fascinating to study Environmental Science. Our understanding of what the Earth requires is evolving almost daily. There are so many important areas about which children need to know. Our Earth can be very fragile, and it is important to know what steps are needed to take care of our planet.

I teach in the library of a wonderful,dynamic inner-city elementary school where the students are interested in learning how to make our Earth a better and healthier place.

The children are curious about how we can be more responsible in taking care of the Earth, and what are the right choices to make to accomplish this goal. The children study about the Chesapeake Bay and want to know how pollution and litter affect our water resources. They are curious also about different forms of energy and how they can be used in the future.

My Project

I am requesting science materials that will inspire students to learn about the Earth. Some of these materials are books on the environment and pollution. Others are models or games where the students can learn about biomes or the environment in a fun setting. Additional materials, such as magnifying glasses, can be used for experiments or observations about nature. I want the children to use the materials in the library during center time, and for teachers to check them out to use in their individual classrooms.

Your help is vital in developing the children's natural interest in this important subject.

I believe if we give the boys and girls the tools, they will succeed. I am hoping that we can give the children a love of learning about the environment that will last a lifetime.
