My Students

Do you remember what it was like to hold a pencil or crayon for the very first time? Was it easy? Was it awkward? My students come into kindergarten with various experiences with writing utensils and not always ready for a pencil. But that will soon change!

My kindergarten classroom currently houses 25 students and we are located in a rural 300-student elementary school.

Most of my students receive free or reduced lunch. My students are energetic and eager to get started on all of that "big-kid" kindergartner stuff the first day they walk into my room. But they don't all come in with the same experiences and unfortunately sometimes that becomes a big inhibitor for some of them.

My Project

My students need experiences with various fine-motor activities in order to prepare them to hold pencils and crayons correctly. Some of the students struggle. But with materials that will challenge the students to strengthen their fingers and hands, they will conquer the pencil for sure! And these activities will not only strengthen their hands, they will strengthen their minds as well! What more could a teacher ask for?

I know that once you see the thank you letters that these children will be able to beautifully write, you will be amazed and thrilled that you have supported their development in such a unique way!

I do hope that you consider supporting our little hands as they learn to touch the future! It is because of donors like you that our students are given the best opportunities possible!
