Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

What is happening outside our school? Due to district cuts our students have lost the opportunity to find out what is happening in the world around them.

We love to explore the world around us and are curious to read what others are doing.

We are a community that does not have the economic opportunity to travel. We have a large population of families that come from other countries to find a better living in the USA but are curious about the world around us.

My Project

We have researched many classroom magazines and found "Time For Kids" offers us the best information to begin those wonderful social studies discussions. The reading level is appropriate for our students. We can take the current topic in the magazine and go online to research it further. Their Internet site also offers many detailed lesson plans and graphic organizers which helps our English Language Development students better comprehend the selection.

Our school has lost our Librarian, Counselor, and Office Manager because of budget cuts so finding Donors Choose was a blessing.

I truly believe that these classroom magazines will open up wonderful discussions about things happening in our world for students who will probably never travel outside our city. We will not have this opportunity without your support. Thank you!
