Wii Music For Wee Musicians

My students need a Nintendo Wii game console and a Wii Fit Plus complete package as part of a program to improve physical fitness in school.

My Students

Can you imagine how hard it is for young children to sit quiet for long periods of time in school in order to learn all of the skills needed to pass the standardized tests? When students come into the music room they are ready to "move it, move it, move it."

The students in my urban, high need, high poverty K-8 school face daily challenges in their young lives.

Proper nutrition and a healthy exercise program have been shown to improve performance in academic classes. As part of a total health and fitness program, my children will be working on a musical study of nutrition and exercise. Michele Obama has encouraged America to control the increased obesity in our country by helping children to develop better eating and exercise habits. Music and performance will motivate my students to participate in the program with enthusiasm.

My Project

The Nintendo Wii console can be used with a variety of games, both physically active, and intellectually stimulating. With the fitness bundle, students can participate in a healthy exercise program and chart their progress. In addition, the Wii can be used with a variety of other music related games to develop singing, beat keeping competencies, and better music reading skills. Check out my other posted projects for more Wii materials I hope to add to the music room.

Your donation to my project will allow my students to improve their physical and mental capabilities in an exciting and motivating way.

When participating in the fitness and nutrition study they will be encouraged to follow proper nutrition and develop a healthy exercise routine. When music class is over they will return to their academic classrooms ready to learn for the rest of the day.
