Cross-Sections Using Clay

My students need clay to create cross-sections of 3D-figures, markers, pencils and erasers. It is essential that this standard be done with their hands.

My Students

My students need to use as many senses as possible to remember. That is why I love to do hands-on activities!

We are from a small town in Georgia.

We have a reputation of having the best schools around. It's because of our fine teachers willing to do hands-on activities so the students can have fun learning! I love to hear my students say, "What are we going to do today?" and "It's already time to go?"

My Project

I do a project with my students called, "Cross-sections Using Clay." The students have to create 3D figures and cut the figure parallel and perpendicular. They have to write down their results and color the cross-sections of each figure. If the students are not able to do this hands-on, they would not know the effects of the cross-sections. I have purchased the materials and it can get expensive! I would really appreciate the donations so my students can learn in the best environment possible.

This project will allow the students to visualize the cross-sections of 3D solids.

This hands-on activity is vital to their success with this geometry standard that will be on their standardized test, CRCT.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
